RHI Deadline Approaching: Why you need to ensure that you apply

As we are fast approaching spring, that means that the deadline for the Renewable Heat Incentive grant is almost here. This means that if you have had a heat pump installed recently, and you have not yet applied for your grant, then you should do so as soon as you can to ensure that you are legible for some money back on your investment. Keep reading this blog post by C Brookes Plumbing and Heating to find out more about how you can benefit from this scheme!

The deadline to apply to the Renewable Heat Incentive is fast approaching, so you need to make sure that you apply to the scheme in order to ensure that you earn money back on your investment to avoid missing out! Applications for the scheme will close on March 31st 2022, so if you have already had your heat pump system installed and it was commissioned on or after 1st March 2019, and you meet the eligibility criteria and have not yet claimed the RHI, then you have until this date to apply or you will miss out on thousands of pounds in RHI payments.

As per the original scheme rules you would have had 12 months from the date of commissioning to put in your claim; however, that has now changed. On 1st April 2021, Ofgem updated its guidance and stated the following:

If your heating system was commissioned on or after 1 March 2019, the applicant can apply for the Domestic RHI, until the scheme closes to new applications (i.e. before midnight at the end of 31 March 2022). Applicants who commissioned their eligible heating system on or after 1 March 2019 and were previously rejected for failing to meet the 12-month rule, can re-apply for accreditation to the scheme.

How does this change impact me for the RHI scheme?

You may be wondering how this change in the RHI deadline impacts you if you have had, or are thinking about getting a heat pump installation in your home in Bristol. Well, if your heat pump has been installed by an MCS registered engineer, like one of us at C Brookes Plumbing and Heating, then you will ensure that you can still benefit from the scheme! As per the Ofgem announcement, anyone that has had their heat pump commissioned after 1st March 2019 can apply for the RHI scheme, provided of course that they meet the eligibility criteria and complete the application before 31st March 2022.

Can I still benefit from this scheme if I have not yet had a heat pump installed but still want one?

Yes! If you wish to have a heat pump installed by one of our heating specialists here at C Brookes Plumbing and Heating, then you can still benefit from the RHI grant, and earn money back on your investment. All you need to do is to ensure that your heat pump installation has been commissioned before 31st March 2022, and of course, you have to remember to submit and have your application approved by then too.
