What do I need - Plumber or Heating Engineer?

At CBrookes Plumbing & Heating, we regularly encounter customers who are not sure about whether or not they should call a plumber or a heating engineer to fix a problem that they have encountered in your home. That's why we have outlined the differences, so you know who to contact the next time you encounter a problem.

The reason for this problem is that there is considerable crossover between plumbing and heating works. Whilst most tradesmen, like us here at CBrookes Plumbing & Heating, offer awide range of services that encompass both, there are some that only offer one or the other.

What’s the difference between Plumbers and Heating Engineers?

In simple terms, modern-day plumbers are qualified to work on both wet and dry pipes, whilst they’re also equipped to repair various types of heating systems, such as radiators and heat pumps. However, they are not always qualified to install and repair boilers.

Heating engineers generally work solely on any heating or cooling systems included in a property, be it boilers, air conditioning, air source heat pumps, or more!

So, whilst you can call on a qualified plumber to repair boiler or heating system issues, you should avoid hiring a heating engineer to repair a leaking pipe, as they are most likely used to installing and repairing boilers rather than fixing pipes.

Why should you choose us?

As we have already mentioned, there are some similarities between plumbers and heating engineers, of course, particularly when you consider the fact that both can work on boiler installations and heating system repairs.

At CBrookes Plumbing & Heating,  we can assure you that we have both plumbers and heating engineers amongst our staff, so when choosing us, you will be choosing a company that has the relevant expertise to get any plumbing or heating job done safely and professionally.

Generally, both types of engineers are qualified to work in both domestic, commercial as well as industrial properties, whilst those that offer gas and heating services should also be included on the Gas Safe Register. We can confirm that our staff are all Gas Safe-registered engineers and heavily insured, whilst we’re also proud to have been independently verified by Expert Trades.
